Weenie Gut Grown Installation

The Weenie Hut Grown installation was the curatorial debut of Leona Love. It comprised of six artists (one not pictured) from Louisville, Kentucky, and ran for three weeks at the 2801 Gallery. Works included ceramics, textiles (quilting), painting, multimedia productions, and mixed media sculpture.

This installation served as an extension of the Weenie Hut Grown series. At its core it is an exploration of young adulthood in the Black Queer community. Specifically Black gender non-conforming femmes. The exhibiting artists ages range from eighteen to thirty years old. This range made for the perfect mix, in every aspect. From the cohesion of the work, to bonding over shared experiences here in Louisville.
